Together, a large group of Community Centre Associations is working through the appendices with our legal counsel. This is an important part of the Joint Operating Agreement (JOA), and it must be given the time and attention it requires so that we get this right.
We continue to be cautiously optimistic that we are close to getting a contract that works for the Park Board and each of our unique communities. We are as committed to this today as we were a year ago, two years ago, five years ago… you get the idea.
This has been a long, difficult negotiation. We have been able to stand strong because of our communities. Our members have shown us so much support and encouragement all the way through. And they continue to do so – stopping CCA presidents and board members at the community centres and out in the community to let us know that they are still there and are watching closely. We also appreciate the e-mails and phone calls of support.
We’re deep into the details right now, and updating all of the CCAs who have not signed (a majority have still not signed the agreement) takes time and effort – but it’s worth it. Collaboration and consultation are at the heart of who we are. We are dedicated to getting a JOA that works for each of us.
We know that we are stronger together – especially with the ongoing and overwhelming support of our communities. Thank you!
We will keep you posted. Please keep checking back here for updates.
